Jamblang Rice
People
say we should apreciate what we have had. It is the things that Allah has given
to us, include our foods that we got. In my home town Cirebon, there are many traditional
foods. Every region of Cirebon has their traditional food. The famous one is
jamblang rice. It is traditional food from jamblang village in the district of
Cirebon. Most of traditional foods has an ordinary appearance but has a
delicious taste. I will never know how special jamblang rice is, until my
friends asked me to taste it.
I cannot forget the first
day when I was in senior high school. It was on Monday morning at a half past
nine. The bell was ringing and it was the time for student to have a break. My
friends took me to canteen for ate.
After that, I found unfamiliar food in canteen, it was attracted my
attention. It was covered by a kind of
leaf and there were some additional food, such as tempe, soup tahu, and
perkedel. I was so curios of that food and my friends told that was jamblang
rice. I had already known it was jamblang rice at that time.
After that, my friend asked
me to taste it, so I taste it. I thought it was only ordinary rice. At the
first bite I ate jamblang rice; I was a little bit surprised. It was so soft
and delicious and different from other rice that I ever tasted. I really
enjoyed ate jamblang rice at that time, seems like it brought me to the
atmosphere of village, so calm and quiet. It felt so ordinary but so special at
the same time.
After that day, I always ate
jamblang rice everyday when I had a break in my school. Many people also have
same experience as me when they tasted jamblang rice. From that I know, even
though jamblang rice look so ordinary but it has a special taste inside.
Simplicity has a special thing inside of that. I ever taste many kinds of rice
but only jamblang rice that has the best taste than other kinds of rice.
